Flyer
advertising is a very popular method to inform customers and
prospects about sales, upcoming events, product information or
general company information.
If
you are designing your flyer here are a few ideas:
Focus
on great copy.
We
strongly recommend that you focus your efforts on writing the
most compelling copy (content) for your flyer and let us
focus on designing and printing the most attractive flyer we can
for you. If you think we are saying this because we want your
business, we do, but we also want you to get the best results
from your flyer project. The
purpose of a flyer is to attract attention, inform the reader
and to sell a product or service. With this in mind, when you
are writing the copy for your flyer your headline must be strong
and bold. When
people are reading flyers, they usually ask “What’s in it
for me?” “How is your product going to make my life
easier?” Give them the answers to these questions and your
battle is half won.
Choose
photographs, backgrounds and other art carefully.
Photographs,
backgrounds and other graphic images can make any printed piece
very appealing but if composed incorrectly they will spoil the
job. If you are using a background make sure that it is suitable
and it does not “drown” out the important information. For
best printing results, photographs and other graphics must be
high resolution images (at least 300dpi) and should help you
communicate the point you are trying to make.
Give
the reader room to breathe.
What we mean by that is not to clutter the
information on your flyer. There should be a comfortable amount
of “nothing”, also known as white space, in some areas of the
flyer. Done right, this will give your flyer a very pleasing
look and will allow the reader to find the key points easily.
Distribution.
The
way you will be distributing your flyers will determine the most
appropriate size for the flyers. If you are mailing the flyers
you could send them as self-mailers in which case an 8.5 by 11
paper size would be the best size. If you are handing them out
at an event then it’s better to get a smaller size like 5.5 by 8.25 or any size that’s won’t be too bulky
for your reader to carry.
Proof
read, proof read, proof read!
We cannot stress this enough. Before you give any
artwork to a
printer please make it a rule to always
spell check and proof read your artwork before you hand it off.
This simple rule will save you a lot of time and
unnecessary expense. Just imagine that your event is tomorrow,
you receive your flyers today and when you look it over you
realize that a key speaker’s name is spelt incorrectly! |
